Someone Spray Painted Part Of Your Exterior Brick Home? 3 Ways You Can Get It Off

If someone decided to become a graffiti artist and spray painted part of the exterior of your brick home, this can be an eyesore. It can be especially difficult to remove graffiti from brick when compared to other building materials, such as concrete, vinyl siding, etc. This is because brick is a porous material, which means the paint can easily soak through. Fortunately, you can still get the paint off in many ways, three of which are listed below.

Purchase Graffiti Remover

The easiest way to remove the paint is to purchase a product that is specifically made to remove graffiti. This product will work well on a variety of surfaces, including brick. The graffiti remover generally comes in a bottle. You should pour some of the remover into a clean spray bottle to make it easy to apply. Spray the solution over the paint to thoroughly moisten it, and let the solution sit on the brick for approximately 20 minutes. If the weather is cold, you should let it sit for approximately 30 minutes. The graffiti remover will dissolve the paint.

When you are finished, pressure wash your brick with hot water. This will remove any solution left on the brick, as well as small paint particles if they are there.

Use Trisodium Phosphate

Gather together a one gallon bucket, trisodium phosphate (TSP), long stick to stir the TSP, scouring powder, stiff scrub brush, and some rags.

Fill the bucket with warm water and add approximately ½ cup of TSP to the water. Use the stick to stir the solution. The TSP usually comes in powder form so make sure the powder is completely dissolved.

Using the stiff brush, dip it into the TSP solution and scrub the paint area of the brick. Let the solution sit on the brick for approximately 15 minutes. Repeat this process again until you no longer see any paint on the brick.

Use Paint Remover

You can also use paint remover to remove the graffiti from the brick. Pour the paint thinner into a spray bottle and thoroughly spray the solution onto the painted area. Use a scrub brush to scrub the paint off to remove it. Use a garden hose or a pressure washer to rinse the paint remover off the brick.

If you are not able to remove the graffiti, contact a brick company, such as Central Arizona Block, to come to your home. They can remove the area of brick that is painted and replace the brick with new ones.
